The monopoly of the app store for Android smartphones is currently held only by Google. Whenever an Android user searches for an app, the first option that comes up is the Google Play Store. However, soon this system is set to change as Google is about to face a significant challenge. This is because a new app store is launching in two days to compete with Google.
The monopoly of the Google Play Store is now at risk because the digital payment application PhonePe is launching its Made in India app store. PhonePe is set to present the Android-based app store to users on February 21. Central Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will inaugurate PhonePe's Indus App Store.
It is worth mentioning that, currently, users have only one option for downloading apps for the Android system, which is the Google Play Store. This is why the app store charges developers arbitrary fees. With the introduction of PhonePe's app store, Android users will have an extra option for app downloads.
