The government is making
full efforts to revive the state-owned telecom company BSNL, so that BSNL can
stand in competition with private players like Jio and Airtel. However, BSNL's
poor network is a major issue. This issue became a topic of discussion in the
parliamentary committee. In this committee, MPs expressed their displeasure
over BSNL's poor network and low-quality service. The issue of customers continuously distancing themselves from BSNL's network was also raised.
MPs said that even they face difficulties in using calling and the internet on
BSNL's network.
High-speed internet will be available.
This committee was led
by BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. BSNL officials assured the panel that there will be
an improvement in BSNL's network in the next 6 months. The company is planning
to install about one lakh mobile towers in 6 months, which will offer
high-speed 4G service. Along with this, 24,000 mobile towers have already been
established.
4G and 5G networks will improve
BSNL officials said they
are using indigenous technology under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, the
impact of which will be visible in the next 6 months. Telecom Secretary Neeraj
Mittal and the CMD of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited were among the senior
officials responsible for improving BSNL's 4G and 5G networks.
Private players on the rise
MPs expressed concern,
saying that there was a time when BSNL had a stronghold. But now the company's
market share has dropped to around 7 percent, while private players are growing
rapidly. In today's time, private mobile connections have become the first
priority for customers. All MPs unanimously agreed that the BSNL phones given
to them do not provide proper service.
Asked for 6 months
In this matter, BSNL officials said that around 54,000 mobile towers based on 4G technology are ready to be installed. The remaining mobile towers will be installed in the next 6 months. In this way, the number of 4G mobile towers will exceed one lakh. As a result, BSNL's 4G service will improve across the country in the next 6 months. This will also help in the expansion of 5G service.
